Veteran Indian batsman Virat Kohli and Australian Test debutant Sam Konstas were involved in a physical altercation on the opening day of the Boxing Day Test between India and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Batting maestro Virat Kohli avoided a ban after a shoulder bump with Australian debutant Sam Konstas during the fourth Test in Melbourne. The ICC fined Kohli 20% of his match fee and awarded a demerit point.

Cricket commentator and 1983 World Cup champion Sunil Gavaskar on Friday said that Virat Kohli did not get any special treatment for his physical altercation with debutant Sam Konstas. On Thursday, Kohli was fined 20 per cent of his match fee and handed a demerit point for a face off with Konstas when the two bumped shoulders in the ongoing Boxing Day Test in Melbourne and exchanged words.
