Ruff listed leading scorer Tage Thompson and goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen as day to day, with both having an opportunity to play Thursday, when Buffalo hosts the St. Louis Blues. Thompson did not return to the game Monday after sustaining a lower-body injury.

Thompson exited Monday’s game against Montreal with a lower-body injury following his first shift of the second period. Luukkonen played the first two periods of that game but was replaced by Devon Levi to start the third due to an ailment he had sustained in practice.

Mattias Samuelsson will be on the shelf for an extended period once again, begging the question of what the Sabres will do with him.
